PRIVATE PRACTICE

For the past 18 years, Jane Garnett has maintained a private practice between Venice, CA, and Ojai, CA, guiding individuals and couples into increased heart intelligence and connection through talk therapy, EMDR, and psychedelic preparation and integration. Her approach is both scientific and intuitive, always highly customized to support each person’s highest potentials.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

With a background in English Literature from Oxford University (BA, MA), Jane developed a deep appreciation for analytical thinking—while also recognizing the limitations of traditional frameworks. Her fascination with psychology led her to pursue a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, followed by an internship at The Maple Center in Beverly Hills. Her clinical expertise has been shaped by mentorship with esteemed therapists and authors Phil Stutz and Barry Michels, Attachment-Focused EMDR training at the Parnell Institute, Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing training, and Mindfulness teacher training through InsightLA.

PLANT MEDICINE & PSYCHEDELICS

For over 15 years, Jane has also explored the therapeutic potential of plant medicine and psychedelics, integrating this wisdom into her practice by facilitating EMDR sessions in combination with Ketamine and supporting clients on the edges of their chosen psychedelic journeys. These experiences have given her a broader perspective on healing—one that extends beyond trauma and pathology.

Creativity, Play & Connection

Through years of practice, Jane noticed that traditional psychotherapy often fixates on what went wrong in the past, overlooking the essential role of joy, creativity, and celebration in healing. While acknowledging the importance of processing pain, she recognized that true transformation also requires unlearning inherited scripts, rediscovering embodied expression, and embracing play.

This realization led Jane to explore new, more expansive models of mental health—ones that center creativity and connection as catalysts for growth. She founded The BananaJane, an online platform dedicated to celebrating play, creativity, and embodiment as integral components of healing. She also created and hosts Sex, Psychics & Psychedelics, https://sexpsychicsandpsychedelics.com/ a five-year-running podcast that highlights diverse healing technologies and brings together a network of wise and unconventional practitioners.

Jane’s healing experiences include::

  • SEXPSYCHICSPSYCHEDELICS- A podcast showcasing diverse healing techniques and uniting healers. spp.life

  • HEART/PARTY – A unique event blending healing practices with dance and celebration, drawing inspiration from shamanic and psychedelic ceremonies. Heartparty.us

Both events are a response to the isolation of rugged individualism, offering a reminder that healing is not a solitary journey—we are the medicine when we come together.

FILM

Before transitioning into mental health, Jane was a producer in Hollywood. She set up Appian Way production company with Leonardo di Caprio, and produced such films as “The Perfect You” and “The Illusionist”. More recently Jane has focused on psychological and spiritual content such as advising on Michael Pollan’s series on psychedelics: “How to Change your Mind,” co-producing Lucy Walker’s film about the plant medicine Ibogaine, “Of Night and Light.” Jane is now developing “Natascha: a journey with Sex, Psychics & Psychedelics” a documentary about guiding a porn star out of un-numbing and into her heart.
